Commercial Moving
Commercial relocations can seem to be an onerous project, but necessary for business. Even internal moves can feel just as demanding as a move to another location. That is where our expert services become a necessity, and finding the right mover is priority. We have successfully completed commercial relocations with minimal disruption to daily business operations. This includes businesses that solely moved their office functions and businesses that moved everything, including their large production machinery. This second type of commercial relocation involves rigging and basic ingenuity. Relocations can be completed during the evening hours or on the weekend to achieve our goal of providing a more transparent service to your company and employees. There is a designated coordinator to insure that the move progresses smoothly and on time as planned. We have found this part of our business growing because we are able to provide quality, knowledgeable service.
Commercial relocations are never standard or average. Each company plans their move based on their goals and desired outcomes. This means that an estimate is required to allow us to efficiently and effectively meet each of your needs. We have completed local and long distance moves for companies of various sizes.
Commercial Moving Information Sheet
Office Furnishings
-
Desks: Often desks are moved on their sides so all contents should be removed including files, pens, pencils, paperclips and personal papers.
-
Credenza: As with desks, the contents of credenzas should be removed.
-
Lateral filing cabinets: Due to the weakness in the structure of lateral filing cabinets with 4 or more drawers, we ask that the top 2-3 drawers be removed and packed prior to moving.
-
Legal filing cabinets: Regardless of the amount of drawers, this type of filing cabinet does not require that its contents be removed.
-
Copiers: Please check with your copier service company as to whether an outside mover can move the copier, and if so, whether the copier will require some type of special set-up.
-
Appliances: Any appliances to be moved must be completely emptied prior to moving. When moving long distance or to storage, please defrost refrigerators and freezers 24 hours before moving.
-
Computers/Network systems: These items must be disconnected prior to moving. Check with your computer consultant for the best ways to keep your hardware safe.
-
Office furniture disassembly: Your mover will disassemble most office furniture. However, some partition units may require specialized services such as an electrician or professional installation services.
-
Two door Cabinets: These items must be completely emptied prior to moving.
-
Metal Shelving: All items must be removed prior to moving. Movers do not require that shelving be disassembled to move.
Inventory/Location markers
A. Color Coding
This type of inventory marker is often used in large office and industrial moves. Due to the limited amount of colors in the spectrum, often they are used to denote departments, wings or floors of the new location.
B. Numbering system
This system is the most commonly used style of inventory marker. Each individual office or workstation is marked with a number such as #23, and within each office the individual pieces are marked with a specific piece number and its corresponding office number i.e., Desk=#23-1, Credenza=#23-2.
- The color coding and numbering system are often used in combination during large commercial and/or industrial moves that have many departments or multiple floors and locations.
Containers for packing
-
1.5 cu.ft. carton/book box - 12.5” x 12.75” x 16 These small sturdy boxes are ideal for packing books, files and miscellaneous desk items. These boxes must be sealed with tape.
-
Legal/letter tote cartons Much like the “book box”, tote cartons average about the same size. The added benefit to using these cartons is that they require no tape to seal and they have side handles for ease in carrying.
- Commercial bins - 48” x 24” x 28” These heavy-duty cartons are designed to simplify office relocations. This carton can be filled with the contents of a desk or credenza, telephones, photos, computers, and typewriters. The average office may require anywhere from 1 - 3 commercial bins to completely pack an office.
