Local Moving/Pennsylvania
If you move within a 40-mile radius, your move is considered a local move. Hammer’s has a very strong local presence and an excellent reputation, especially as a local mover. We regularly service customers in the Montgomery, Bucks, Philadelphia, Delaware, and Chester counties.
Local moving is charged by an hourly rate, based on the number of men and trucks required. Our tariff rates are:
EFFECTIVE 5/16/2007
3 men/ 1 truck $112.00 per hour
4 men/ 1 truck $139.00 per hour
4 men/ 2 trucks $170.00 per hour
The actual charge for moving is then determined by the actual amount of labor time need to:
- Complete an inventory
- Pad-wrap furniture and banisters, protect floors and walls, etc.
- Complete last minute packing and disassembly, as needed
- Load the truck
- Drive and deliver to your new home or storage
- Reassemble and rearrange, as needed
You can roughly estimate the labor time by counting the number of furnished rooms in your current home and multiplying that number by 1 - 1 ½ hours. This is the time it takes to load and unload a standard room of furniture, based on experience. Of course, this time can vary depending on how fully furnished each room actually is compared to an average. Additionally, travel time charges are added, ranging from a flat one-hour charge to actual travel time. This covers the time the truck is on the road and empty. OF COURSE, an estimate is always recommended. We can provide information over the phone, or an estimator can come out to your home for a visual estimate.
Additional charges apply for packing, additional valuation coverage , storage, and other services requested by you that are not included in the regular local move.
